The name of Jesus

What's in a name? Quite a lot if you really consider it. A name is an identifier and shows possession or ownership. I see names on dishes at church dinners, on mailboxes beside the road, on tools and lunch boxes on the job. I've noticed that no one marks their possessions by their given titles such as father, son, mother, daughter, etc.. Though the titles may apply, they are not used because it's the name that gives the identity.
When Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost," he obviously meant what he said. On the Day of Pentecost, after the initial outpouring of the Holy Ghost upon the 120, Peter preached to those that gathered around to see this great miracle.
When conviction fell upon the hearts of those listening, they asked, "What shall we do?" Peter then told them how to be saved just as Jesus had commanded him, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Over 3000 souls were baptized that day in the name of Jesus Christ. No one person that day or anywhere else in the book of Acts was baptized using titles, father, son and Holy Ghost! Jesus had commanded them to baptize in the name of whom these titles belong. Jesus is the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost! A baptism without the name of Jesus evoked over you is nothing more than a short bath. Jesus blood, nor his name has been applied to take away sin and identify you as his.
